First Major Music Company to Partner With One of World's Largest Mobile Operators

LONDON -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 06/20/2006 -- Warner Music China (WMC) today became the first major music company to enter a direct, catalogue-wide content agreement with a mobile operator in China. Under the agreement, ringback tones, mastertones and artist greetings by Warner Music artists will be available via China Unicom's CDMA and GSM networks.

Chinese Film Piracy Steals $2.7 billion US

(andPOP) - Movie piracy in China cost the global film industry $2.7 billion US last year, according to a report by the Motion Picture Association (MPA). While major film studios in the United States lost around $565 million, China's film industry was the worst affected, losing about $1.5 billion to piracy. "In terms of who's losing the most here in China, it's not the MPA's member companies, it's the local industry," said Mike Ellis, head of MPA Asia Pacific.
